Yesterday afternoon was the autumnal equinox which marks the astronomical beginning of autumn. In Berlin this was exactly at 16:21 CEST. Time to reflect on some of the best this season has to offer.
Pumpkins are certainly the most iconic symbol of Fall and there’s nothing like homemade pumpkin soup. But pears, butternut squash, brussels sprouts, cauliflower and kale are just some of fall’s awesome produce. You can usually get locally grown vegetables at this time of the year.
Transitioning from light summer knits to the more chunky sweaters and cardigans is always a joy for me. I just love intricately knitted garments with cables or patterns. They spell autumn like nothing else and the great thing is – as long as it’s not that cold, you can wear them without a jacket for a super comfy casual goto look.
If there’s one item of clothing which I always look forward to wearing again, it’s boots and booties. Whether it’s chelseas, biker boots, the classic riding boot or OTKs. I practically live in boots all through autumn and winter.
When the days get colder, hot beverages become more popular. And settling down with a hot cup of tea after a long day becomes an even more welcome ritual. I personally also love a Matcha Latte or hot chocolate in the afternoon.
Autumn is always a season of the most glorious colours. I just love all the different shades the leaves display as nature prepares for winter. The light also changes and you may be lucky to see fog coming up in the early morning hours. A perfect backdrop for all the vibrant yellows, reds and oranges.
